Al Ghubaibah Area
AL GHUBAIBA, the 1900’s trade of center and commerce in Dubai.
Al Ghubaibah is the home for the biggest bus station in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Basically all buses to different destinations and landmarks in Dubai starts here. Even Abu Dhabi bound and Sharjah bound buses could be seen here.
It is located in the area of Bur Dubai and is one of the oldest residential areas in the city and houses a predominantly Indian population, they pioneered shops like restaurants, barber shops, clothing materials, carpentry shops, laundry business and other retail outlets. The locality, also referred to as Meena Bazaar by the local Indian community, also encompasses the historic Al Bastakiya district of Dubai. Gold retail stores also sprawl in Al Ghubaiba.
In 1900’s they saw an influx of traders from India who eventually settled in the area. Important landmarks in Al Souk Al Kabir include the Al Bastakiya district, Al Fahidi Fort, Dubai Museum, Bank of Baroda and the Hindu temple of Dubai. Modern Carrefour is also located in the area as well as big banks of HSBC, Emirates NBD, and Mashreq. Shawarma nooks are everywhere.
